Create a Healthy Body

For the last 25 years, I have been researching alternative health methods and modalities. I came across many different healing modalities used today that have been around for centuries. Since these methods have been around for so long, we know that they work. I have also learned that it is easy to incorporate these remedies to our daily routines to heal what is bothering us. I will share with you some of the most natural methods to help the most common problems that we face.

The most important thing we can do for ourselves is to maintain a proper PH balance within the physical body. Think of this like a fish tank. When you first put your fish in the tank, you check the water's PH balance to make sure it is proper for the survival of the fish. If the water is too acidic, the fish will die. If the water is too alkaline, the fis will die. It is necessary to check the PH often to make sure it is properly balanced. The same thing holds true for our physical bodies. It is of the utmost importance to keep our bodies' PH levels properly balanced. This is the best way to prevent cancers of all kinds to grow in your body. NO CANCERS can grown in a proper alkaline environmen!. To know what your PH is at, you can test the first morning urine stream with PH test strips purchased from a health food store. The output first thing in the morning is the truest result. Some people prefer to test their saliva. Although this is ok to do, it is not as accurate as the urine test. It is simple and easy to do and takes a few seconds to complete. Once you know your PH number, you can start to make the necessary changes to your eating habits to balance that PH level. The goal for the proper PH is a 7. You will compare your test strip with the color chart on your test strip package for verification.

The best way to balance your PH is to drink lemon water first thing in the morning. Drink it cold or warm, it is your preference. Use fresh squeezed organic lemons for the best results. Realemon is not real so it is best to use fresh organic lemons. Before cutting the lemons, roll them on the counter with some pressure to get the juices flowing. Use half a lemon each serving to get the right amount. You can also use Santa Cruz organic lemon juice if you want to simplify this routine. If you find lemon water too tart, you can add a small amount of honey or stevia to your water to make it palatable. There is a list of foods you can find on line that is the acid/alkaline diet. On this list, we need 70% alkaline foods and 30% acidic foods. This is an important list to follow, and making small changes gradually set you up for success.

Since we are now into the fall season (almost) and the kids are back to school, it is likely there will soon be colds and flus visiting your household. The best prevention of the cold and flu is to start taking echinacea and vitamin C now. Echinacea comes in capsule or liquid for adults and chewables for children. The bottles will tell you the recommended amount to take per day. Each brand is different. For prevention, you can lower the dosage as you are just wanting to improve your immune system, not kick something out of the body. Vitamin C is one of the easiest things we can take for prevention and it is tasty to take. Vitaminc C comes in chewable formula for adults and children. Children over 12 can take the adult dosages, but under 12 need to take the recommended amount of the children formulas. The best vitamin C is one that is mixed with hesperedin and rosehip. This combination is more powerful and keeps the immune system strong. Again, starting this routine now is crucial for prevention. If you are a brave soul, you can try the Oil of Oregao as well. It is a good idea to take this if you are chronically ill in the fall and winter months. The Oil of Oregano has a dropper and it is recommended that you put a dropper full under your tongue and hold it until you can no longer tolerate it, then swallow. Be sure to have something to drink nearby as it is strong. Though this may be uncomfortable, it is easy to get used to. You can also rub Oil of Oregano on your feet at bedtime to help build up your immune system.

Yes, it is still possible to get sick when taking these remedies, but the intensity and duration will be much less than if you weren't taking them. It is usually too late to prevent once you start to notice symptoms. So just start now and you will be very glad you did. Also to keep a strong immune system, make sure you are getting plenty of rest and that you are properly dealing with your stress. Lack of sleep and too much stress lower your immune system and therefore your body does not have the proper ability to fight off infections. Also, proper handwashing is crucial as many bugs and illnesses are passed on by door handles, light switches, toilet seats, taps, and any other surface that is touched by other people. Remember that grocery carts carry a lot of germs, as do our cell phones. So take the necessary precautions and clean these surfaces.

For children that seem to be anxious, over-active, and have trouble paying attention, I like to use a product called Calms Forte for Kids. This is a homeopathic remedy and it is AMAZING! I used this on my kids as they were young teens to help them calm down and focus. I noticed a difference in behaviour in less than 15 minutes. The doctor suggested Ritalin for my boys, but that is the worst drug around and it turned them into zombies. Instead, I used what I knew worked. This remedy is simple to use. Give one or two tablets, depending on the age and size of the child, under the tongue 15 minutes away from food and mint. If you do not see signs of improvement in 15 minutes, feel free to give them another dose of one or two tablets. These tablets are tiny and sweet and dissolve instantly. By administering under the tongue, the tablets are released into the blood stream immediately for a quick effect. Feel free to give this dose to your child every 15 minutes until you notice improvement, then cut back to every couple of hours. By continuing the dose, the child will calm down and feel relaxed, and then will be able to focus. It can be difficult to administer at school, but my suggestion would be to start as soon as the child is home from school and has had their snack (or before their snack so the time frame is less). Continue until bedtime, making sure that if your children use mint toothpaste, you administer their last dose half an hour before bedtime so that the remedy remains effective. Mint interferes with homeopathic remedies. You will be very happy with the results.

You can find these homeopathic remedies at most health food stores. If they are out I have found them in the past at Shopper's Drug Mart and at Superstore. In Shopper's Drug Mart they were located around the pharmacy in the area of the children's supplements and medications. In Superstore, they are in the natural/organic section by the freezers.

I also recommend taking a probiotic. This is a multi-purpose product and usually needs to be kept in the fridge. Children and adults need to take different products as the childrens stomachs have different gut flora than adults. Probiotics help with building the immune system, food digestion and overall great gut health. If you are constipated or have diarrhea, a probiotic is essential as it helps to balance both of these issues.

One more necessary supplement is Omega 3 oils. You can get these from fish oil supplements or from plant sources like hemp seeds or chia seeds. Chia seeds are a power-packed food. They are high in calcium, protein, and fibre, as well as a mineral called manganese which is required for optimum carbohydrate metabolism, calcium absorption and proper regulation of blood sugar. Just 2 TBSP. a day provides your recommended daily serving of Omega 3 oils. I feel great when I take my chia seeds. My bowles operate properly and I do not feel as hungry because of the fibre and blood sugar regulation. Chia seeds can be made into pudding, chocolate soy milk, added to oatmeal, yogurt and smoothies, and replaced as pectin in jam. With all these options, why not add them to your diet now?

So go ahead and improve your health starting today. Prevention of illness is easier than being sick and allows you to keep doing what you love, rather than taking the time out of our life to be sick.
