YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

I have heard it said many times that we all have a book in us. Why is that you ask? Because we are all unique beings and we all have a unique life. I am one of 5 siblings and you would not know we are related at all. There may be a touch of similar looks, but our interests and personalities are all very different. We are here to have our own experiences, be on our own journey, and live our best life. We are all here to be love and to give love. No two people on this planet will have the same experiences. So, because of this, we will all have a unique story to tell.
We all have a certain perspective and look at a situation differently than the next person. Even if there are 4 people in the same room, reading the same story, or talking about the same situation, everyone will have a different takeaway. Everyone of us have lived with heartache and pain, made it through trials and tribulations and learned life the hard way. AND, everyone of us has had many successes, large and small, that propel us forward. Each of us will learn, grow and expand in this life to become one with our souls. That is what we are here to do. Find our own path and follow it. We are here to challenge authority, step outside the box, and live life on a grand scale.
Through my writing process, I have talked to a lot of people. When people asked me what I was doing, I told them I was writing a book. "Really? Good for you! I could NEVER do that. I would not even know where to start." I want to help you with that in the hopes that you will take the opportunity to write your story, some way, some how, so that others may benefit from the life you have lived. Perhaps in someone reading your story, they saved themselves many years of heartache because they listened to your warning to pay attention to the red flags. Perhaps in your book you will teach the life lessons that you learned so others can learn them without having to experience them. Your voice needs to be heard!
That is what I kept hearing before I started to write my book. Your voice needs to be heard, you have a story to tell. Share your story with the world. I continued to hear this voice non-stop, until I started writing my story.
Instead of allowing yourself to feel overwhelmed by the larger picture and the end result, you simply need to start writing, allowing yourself time each day to think and write freely. When ideas come to you, start writing them down. Buy yourself a few coil scribblers or notebooks and start writing events and situations that happened in your life. If you like, you can date when they happened so that you can find a certain order to your writing. As you start putting words to paper, your mind will begin to activate its memory and more things will come to you. When you have some spare time, which you might have to plan into your schedule, you can sit down with your words and plan how you want your story to turn out. Do you want it to be an autobiography? Do you want to make it a story of fiction, with yourself as the main character? I wrote my story both ways, actually the fictional story I wrote from a first person and a third person perspective. What worked out better for me was to make it an autobiography. The story flowed better and seemed to make more sense, so that is how I wrote it. I left out quite a few events as they were part of someone else's story, even though they happened in my life. You will need to discern for yourself what the most important details are, and then write about those from your perspective. In talking to other authors, any story can be written in true life form, or written as a fictional story. It all depends on how you want your story to turn out.
Once you decide that, then you need to organize your thoughts and break them down into smaller pieces. You need to decide how many chapters you want, how you want each chapter to look, and how you want the story to progress. If you are not sure what way is best for you, do some research in books about writing, or google your topic, or talk to other authors. There are many avenues to try to figure out how to get started. The most important thing is to keep moving forward with your story; one day at a time, every day, do something. I often suggest people start with writing one page per day. In a year you have a book. Keep your plan simple and keep your eye on the finish line. Sometimes life gets in the way, but if you stay focused on your dream, you can, and will, make it happen.
If you are really not a writer, and feel you could not put two paragraphs of thought together on one subject, but you feel you really want, and need to share your story with the world, then I would suggest you look at the option of a ghost writer. A ghost writer is an author who can take your story and with your help, write it for you. You will most likely have to pay this author for the time and effort put into writing your story, but that is something you can negotiate when and if the time comes. In this way, your story will reach the people it needs to and it will help them on their journey, saving them valuable time and suffering. They will learn from your experience, which, for me, is a wonderful thing to do. Write your story from your point of view, as you saw it and felt it at the time. If you talk to people in your life about your story, and they give you their suggestions and pull apart what you recall, remember that it is YOUR story, not theirs, and it is up to you to write it. You can hear other people's comments if you like, but if they do not sit well in you, then discard them and forge ahead as you had planned. Others will always have an opinion to share. Sometimes, depending on the person, it can be helpful advice that will make your story better. Sometimes, however, it is someone's jealousy of you that will have them sharing hurtful words. Be strong, know where you are going and stick will it.
So give it some thought, do some writing and some research, and figure out what you want to do. If you hear the knock, the call to do something grand, the knock will only get louder until you answer the call. Are you ready to live your life on a grand scale?? Are you ready to have your voice heard?? Then start today and be on your way. You will be very glad you did!
